Returns

You can return any undamaged clock hand(s)
and/or any undamaged working motor within 30
days after purchase for a refund minus a 7% restocking fee.

I will not accept a return of any second hand or second motor with stripped threads.

Please contact me for a required Return Authorization Number beforehand.

Warranty

Motors have a 1 year warranty from date of purchase.

Installation

First read the Disassembly section, make notes, save parts, and take pictures..

Second Hand

Hold the second hand horizontal to the face of the clock and gently rotate
it clockwise until it "bites", then continue the rotation about 4 turns until snug.
STOP if you encounter any initial resistance or you
will strip the threads and ruin the hand.
Hands or motors with stripped threads cannot be returned. Be careful!

Hour & Minute Hand

Gently press the hour hand onto the round shaft. Then put the minute hand
gently onto the rectangular part of the shaft. Finally, install the locking nut.
The mechanisms are made of brass and yours may be worn.
Use a tiny drop of LockTite 222 if the hands are too loose.

Motors

Install the motor using the notes you made during disassembly

Disassembly

The face of the clock is cardboard and scratches easily.

Pad the clock face and hands with towels and tape.

Take pictures for reassembly, and bag all loose parts.

Push some of the power cord into the back of the clock.

Lay it on its back about a foot from a wall and prop open the glass cover.

hm7.jpg

Unscrew the second hand by holding it in the center
and giving it a sharp twist counter clockwise.

You may have to hold the motor shaft with pliers if that does not work.

hm10.jpg

Unscrew counter clockwise the nut that holds the hour and minute hands.

Then gently pull up on the minute hand and put it and the nut aside.

hm13.jpg

Pad the area underneath the hour hand, which is a press/friction fit.

Using two forks, gently pry it off the round motor shaft and put it aside.

hm16.jpg

Remove counter clockwise the nut that holds the hour and minute hand motor to the clock face.

The motor will fall into the clock body but will not be damaged.

hm20.jpg hm23.jpg

Six screws hold the clock face to the wood frame and can be difficult to break loose.

Use a drill, or a jeweler's phillip's head screw driver held in vise grips.

Put the screws in the same bag as the hour and minute nut.

Gently pry the loose clock face up out of the wood
frame or use the hole in the center. Remove the relevant motor.

Motors

Your clock will probably have one of these two motors.

This motor is no longer made.

Possible repairs here.

This newer style motor is attached to a brass movement.
It is unlikely that the movement is the problem.
To test the motor, unscrew it from the movement.
Don't lose the screws!
Make a small mark on one of the gear teeth
using a magic marker or a small amount of nail polish.
This is a 1 RPM motor. Plug it in.
The motor is fine if the mark on the gear rotates once in 60 seconds.
Otherwise the movement should be taken to a clock shop for cleaning.
